I just had an amazing experience on this tour with Diogo, who is a very competent teacher who did really well in teaching me the basics, and then applying them in real life. The 4 days off-roading in the mountains, plantations and forests of beautiful Portugal was just amazing. It was just the right amount of challenging, super fun and exciting and the most beautiful scenery you can imagine. On top of all that, Diogo is just a super nice person to be with, and so was the group we drove with. Fantastic experience. Thanks Diogo. See you on the trails 💪😃

What an amazing experience! I came with no offroad experience to the 5 day tour - within the training day Diogo managed to not only teach the basics but also build a strong foundation and confidence that made the 4 days of riding an absolute blast. The route Diogo has prepared, the places we stayed in and the food left nothing to desire either - all in all highly recommend taking on this challenge 🙌

Diogo has a great concept here in that you train for one day and then apply those skills for four days whilst enjoying a tour of Portugal. And it works! I have attended one-day off-road training in the past and although it is helpful, you return to your daily life and quickly become distracted. After four days touring, the skills and technique are imprinted on you and become second nature. That's just the training side, the tour was also excellent. Whether blasting through eucalyptus forests, climbing mountains or fording streams, the terrain is challenging and beautiful but never scary. Diogo will also adapt the speed and course to meet your personal needs. We were a group of 6 and we all agreed that the tour was great fun, arriving each night with smiles all around. Do we need to talk about the Portuguese food? Delicious!

Brilliant time learning off road, of course. Really well thought out course, great for beginner through to advance. Diogo is a patient instructor, fantastic navigator and a great all round rider who puts his heart and sole into his business. Added benefit to these courses is getting to see varying and hidden parts of Portugal that not many people get to see, what beautiful country.

Diogo is a very skilled coach and very in tune with what he needs to work on with riders. He taught me more critical skills in a few hours than I had learned in the last two years since I started off-road riding. He took me through beautiful parts of Portugal that I would never have imagined existed. His courses and tours are very reasonably priced for the value offered. I plan on bringing along friends next time and hopefully make an annual visit for this. I would highly recommend this not only for fun factor, but for learning crucial skills as well.

Having tried a few UK venues, Diogo provides insight, illumination and joyful enlightenment at an entirely higher and deeply engaging level. His rich experience with training and personal development allows his ‘bionic eye’ to immediately identify all the little things and poor habits, that block progress, causing previous frustration. Therefore, as if by magic, little by little … it clicks! With charm and humour, Diogo is able to facilitate a conveyor belt of confidence enrichment where he encourages a stretching of the learning envelope yet without it ever feeling strenuous. Accordingly, trepidation is incrementally replaced with belief and confidence. Post training, as the touring days unfolded with ‘pitch perfect’ challenges en route, we could deeply appreciate the wonders that Portugal offers. In short, aside from true skill development, Diogo delivers a complete life enriching experience with fastidious care and attention to detail that extends to his facilities, equipment and the bikes. We are hooked and booked already to go back soonest. John & Cherry Macknay - Snowdonia

The “Northern Odyssey” is my longest and most complete tour. A 6 day, 1200 Km adventure that is not for the faint of heart! Expect long days on the saddle riding half way accross the country along the coast, deep into the countryside, through the tallest peak of the tallest mountain, along the vineyards of the Douro river, and the cork tress of Alentejo. This tour really has it all!

Note: On this tour we will carry on our bikes the necessary luggage for the 5 nights we will spend travelling, each of them in a fascinating new location with its own gastronomic offer.

Day 0 : Arrival Day

Riders are expected to arrive in Santarém the day before the event. In my FAQ page you can get instructions on how to get here coming from Lisbon.

This first night in hotel is included and so is the welcome dinner (around 7h30pm), an awesome opportunity for all of us to get to know each other and to savour some typical Portuguese delicacies as we talk about the details of the upcoming tour.

Day 1 : Santarém – Vila de Rei (~180 Km)

In the morning we’ll gather, gear up, prep the bikes, and finally embark on our exciting journey. We’ll head East towards the golden trails of Alentejo sided by thousands of cork trees and farmland. In the afernoon we will cross the Tejo river heading North, ending the day in an epic location: Vila de Rei, the heart of Portugal (quite literally, as this town stands as the geodesic center of the country!)

Day 2: Vila de Rei – Serra da Estrela (~180 Km)

The goal for this day is to reach the top of the tallest mountain in Portugal, Serra da Estrela (~2000m tall), one of my all time favorite regions! You will notice an increase of difficulty as we leave the plains down south and start moving up the mountains.

The terrain will transform, featuring captivating rocky formations abd the vistas will become more breathtaking than ever! Furthermore, the culinary experience will elevate as we delve into the unique delicacies of the mountains, including delectable options like grilled wild pig, goat stew, juniper rice, and much more!

Day 3: Serra da Estrela – Torre de Moncorvo (~220 Km)

We’ll continue our journey northward, delving deeper into the rich diversity of Serra da Estrela. Encounter gravel roads winding through the peaks, offering unbelievable sights, navigate challenging narrow rocky trails that will truly test our skills, and traverse dream-like mountain passes etched into our memories forever.

Our day concludes in Torre de Moncorvo, a picturesque city nestled alongside the Douro River.

Day 4 – Torre de Moncorvo – Gois (~ 280 Km)

Today will be the longest, but also the one with the highest ON-road percentage, all for good reason!

As we kick off the day, we’ll head West into the enchanting Douro Valley. Riding alongside the acclaimed N222 National road (seriously, it’s considered one of the most beautiful roads in the World!), we’ll be treated to a breathtaking views of the river and the vibrant vineyards, known for producing the iconic Port wine.

After covering around 100 kilometers on-road we’ll take the trails once again and make out way south towards Gois, a cozy little town surrounded by mountains and meandering rivers.
